Good afternoon. This is my first time posting here - I wanted to see if anyone here has had any experience with the BioRad iCycler IQ qPCR thermal cylcer + optical unit.

I received what appeared to be a working instrument a couple of months ago, meaning it powers on, heats, etc. However, I am having issues connecting the optical unit to the computer and iCycler IQ Optical System Software.

With both the thermal cycler and optical unit turned on and connected via a serial cable to my computer (tested on both Windows XP and Windows 2000), I keep getting the following errors: "Unable to put instrument into remote. Running in edit mode only." and "CAMERA FAILURE: Camera port is not bio-directional or (NT only) camera driver IQCAMPP is not loaded. Reboot system and check BIOS parallel port setting. Set to Bi-Directional, Extended, EPP and/or ECP mode."

I have set the serial port to 57,600 bps, rebooted, etc.,  but I'm not entirely sure what else I can do to troubleshoot this.

Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thank you very much for your time.
