Lid keeps closing after opens

When the lid opens it falls back down and closes again. Any idea how to fix it?

Hi there,
This seems to be low pressure in the gas struts, maybe a leak, otherwise they would keep the lid up. This can occasionally happen if you are unlucky; otherwise is more probable (for any centrifuge) after a few years, depending on frequency of use.
It is also seen when a centrifuge has been stored in a very cold place, in which case the gas pressure drops without any leak taking place. I expect that the gas struts need replacing; you can't easily recharge them. Check them individually, one might be OK but not strong enough to keep the lid up on its own.
