Exporting Data & Differences 640/650
I'm considering purchasing a Beckman spectrophotometer. Questions:
1. Can I export the data into Excel/Matlab?
2. What are the major difference between the 640 and 650?

1) Yes, but not as easy as it should be. If you have the external disk option it can be converted to excel format and put on the disk. The instrument has a RS232 port that can be access, but the data is "beckman format" so it is not user friendly without running through another program first.
2) DU650 is user programmable. I don't remember any customers that actually used that option. The canned programs are usually enough.
Hi Craig,
Thanks so much for the help on this. I'll contact Beckman and see if they have any easier way to export the data - maybe a open source converter program , etc.
But the fact that this is possible, is certainly great news.
Many Thanks
