Cannot connect the workstation to the computer

I have been working on this machine for almost a year and never really had any major problems with it until recently. When I switch on the Biomek 2k machine, there is a green light that appears even before I use the software to set up the connection between the workstation and computer. Before there was a red light that first flashed and once you make the connections, the green light would then come on. I don't understand why the green light appears as soon i switch the machine on. When I use the software to establish a connection, it is not able to do it. I need some help here, please. Thanks

A null modem cable is required to connect to the B2k. If you have changed the cable, that may be the issue.
