Well, I can give you some advice on how to find out if it does not have a problem. If it does, it can have many symptoms... :)
To do a check on the instrument, the best way is to perform a run with a sequencing standard. If you can see a clean chromatogram, the instrument is running relatively OK (Still, it might have some hidden problem, like an end of life laser) but at least you check the main instrument components.
Are you asking this because you are thinking on buying one?
