Product Focus: Stirrers

A glass rod swirled in a beaker worked fine for laboratory stirring for years, decades, and more, but that won’t do today in most cases. As Oliver Vogelsang, product manager for stirrers at IKA in Staufen, Germany, explains, “Stirrers are being more and more integrated into automated processes.” Such advanced uses of stirrers require updated technology. In addition, stirring in general often depends on far more sophisticated features than rhythmic hand power.

4th generation AT MD fully automated dissolution system
The new SOTAX AT MD is a fully automated benchtop dissolution system for running several unattended lots in succession including media preparation, gravimetric dispensing to the vessels and cleaning of the bath between lots. The cued dissolution methods can be different or the same product can be run back to back.
Derived from the Zymark MultiDose platform, which is in active service globally, the upgraded MD unit now runs with the new circular SOTAX dissolution bath. To increase productivity and shorten cycle times, the MD prepares media twice as fast and can work with an even greater variety of surfactant concentrations

The Phenom ProX desktop scanning electron microscope is the ultimate all-in-one imaging and X-ray analysis system.

  • Superb imaging up to 100,000x
  • The perfect all-in-one desktop SEM
  • Fully integrated EDS solution

With the Phenom ProX desktop SEM, sample structures can be physically examined and their elemental composition determined.  Viewing three-dimensional images of microscopic structures only solves half the problem when analyzing samples. It is often necessary to collect more than optical data to be able to identify the different elements in a specimen. This is accomplished in the Phenom ProX with a fully integrated and specifically designed EDS detector.

Vials/Test Tubes to fit VWR Signature Vortex Mixer
We are currently using flat-bottomed glass vials with an O.D. of 27mm with the VWR Signature Vortex Mixer. These frequently jump out of the holder. Do you know what size/configuration of test tubes/vials will fit it, and where I can obtain them? Join the discussion

New Brunswick Scientific Innova 4300 Shaker
I was hoping someone here might know how to reset the MAINT indicator light on the Innova 4330? For the 4400 it is a simple key sequence/combination, but the 4300 references resetting the internal clock. Advise this member.
