Daily wear and tear of your lab equipment can cause inaccurate results and safety issues. It is therefore important to keep up to date with maintenance and repair to ensure optimal operational performance. There is much debate on whether using the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is the way to go for service and repairs over the smaller independent service companies such as EZKem, GenTech Scientific, and Spectra Services. Both options have their benefits including cost savings and enhanced service quality.

Very high signal
During the GC start-up, I usually switch on the IGNIT button for a few seconds for the start-up of the FID. After that I wait a few hours for signal stabilizing. Recently the signal doesn't drop down after the ignition, it remains around 50-60. When I inject some sample, there are no peaks but a sharp signal line in the chromatogram. Any similar experience?

 Ask The Expert

Brought to you by METTLER TOLEDO

Q: I need the procedure how to do the preventive maintenace of this equipment DL 30 Mettler Toledo also how to calibrate it. thanks

A: The Maintenance and Calibration procedure for the DL series titrators are not available to the public as they contain information that is proprietary to Mettler Toledo. Any available maintenance or checks that would be available to our customers would be outlined in the Operating Manual of the instrument. What we definitely recommend is to perform a General System Suitability Test of a 3 time repeatability measurement to understand your measurement uncertainty. I would recommend calling Mettler Toledo at 800-METTLER to place a service call and allow our expert technicians to take care of this need for you.
