Erlab’s CaptairFlex ductless fume hood aids in solving Portsmouth Police Department’s forensic procedures

The Portsmouth, New Hampshire crime scene team, which is made up of patrol officers and detectives, needed to resolve their issues caused by excessive fingerprint powder and other chemicals used for processing evidence.

The installation of the Erlab CaptairFlex ductless fume hood, which is designed to protect users during applications that emit vapors and/or chemical particles and offers a level of performance, ensured that the detectives would benefit from safety as well as an environmentally-friendly energy saving alternative to costly traditional ducted fume hood systems.

According to Portsmouth Police Sargent, John Peracchi, “Erlab’s CaptairFlex fume hood has been extremely helpful for our officers when processing evidence and keeps them safe from any toxic chemicals used during their forensic procedures”

In addition, M.J. Shoer, past president, Seacoast Crime Stoppers, stated “The Board of Directors of Seacoast Crime Stoppers was very pleased to be able to fund the purchase of the Erlab Fume Hood for the Portsmouth Police Department through our grant program. Not only will this new ductless fume hood help Portsmouth detectives do their forensic work more effectively and safely, but this new technology will also be made available to Seacoast Crime Stoppers member police departments to use when not in use by Portsmouth.”

Both the Portsmouth Police Department and the Seacoast Crime Stoppers benefitted from the expertise and training Erlab provided in setting up this successful program.
