Union Process, Inc., known globally as a manufacturer of particle size reduction and dispersing equipment, as well as a supplier of grinding media and materials characterization services for a broad range of research and industrial applications, has built a laboratory-sized Q-2 Circulation Attritor for a customer who will process a chocolate coating for ice cream.

"We have a lot of experience in producing Attritor circulation systems specifically for the chocolate industry for companies both domestically and internationally," noted Brian Li, Sales Manager for Union Process.

The Attritor is powered by a 5 HP motor with a variable frequency drive (VFD). The drive is installed in a NEMA-4X/12 wash-down duty enclosure. The stainless steel grinding tank has a gross tank volume of 2.6 gallons and is jacketed for cooling. The module is programmed to display agitator RPM and can be toggled to display motor power (KW), and motor AMPs.

The premix system includes a stainless steel, 25-gallon premix/processing tank complete with an anchor stirrer and mixer.

The system is completed with a sanitary jacketed pump with stainless steel housing, and a reversible 1 HP variable speed drive. All necessary plumbing is part of the system.
