Safety Comes First.

Everybody who works in a lab knows the importance of following correct safety procedures. If there is any carelessness with safety precautions, major accidents can occur. With so many other things going on within your lab it is sometimes easy to forget to check if these guidelines are being followed.

All science labs should be fitted with appropriate safety symbols and hazard signs. A full list of these can be obtained from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) who also set a list of standards that must be followed to ensure a safe work environment.

Check out the article ‘Laboratory Hazards and Risks’ on LabManager.com for a breakdown of specific OSHA standards for chemical, biological, physical, and electrical hazards. I’m hoping this will encourage you to dig out your safety manuals to make sure there is nothing you have overlooked. A safe lab environment is a happy and productive lab environment!

Feel free to comment below if you have any suggestions on how you follow safety precautions in your lab.
