UHPLC Systems: The Future of Liquid Chromatography

HPLC systems seem to be getting better with age. Recently, within the last 10 years there has been a big focus on innovation and improvement of these commonly used instruments within modern laboratories. This focus has lead to the development of the Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC) Systems that offer greater performance of mass detectors, improved column technologies, and faster result times. However there is still some debate as to whether the UHPLC systems should replace the HPLC systems entirely.

Agilent Technologies has recently announced the arrival of the first commercial hybrid SFC/UHPLC system, the 1260 Infinity Analytical SFC. To view the related article click here.

Dionex, Hitachi High-Tech, Shimadzu, PerkinElmer, Thermo Scientific, and Waters are just a few more manufacturers of UHPLC systems.
