Solve Challenging Applications Problems Easily

Agilent Capillary Flow Technology allows you to easily make reliable, leak-free, in-oven capillary connections that can stand up to the temperature extremes of a modern GC. Based on a proprietary chem-milled, diffusion-bonded process, these inert, low-mass, low-dead volume devices not only make it easy to make secure connections, they give you the ability to precisely divert your gas flow pneumatically, where and when you want. This opens the door to highly useful techniques such as backflushing, heart-cutting, flow splitting, and Deans switching that can improve your analytical results, as well as save time and resources.

Features of Capillary Flow Technology
  • Capillary Flow hardware surfaces that contact sample are deactivated to minimize active sites
  • Easy column/restrictor connections increase reliability and minimize dead volumes
  • Backflush—available with any of the following purged capillary flow devices—can significantly reduce cycle times and provide better data quality
  • Deans switch facilitates heart-cutting by switching peaks to a second column of different stationary phase; additional selectivity can provide better resolution of trace compounds in complex matrices
  • The purged splitter is an easy-to-use, leak-free, device for reliably splitting column effluent among two or three detectors
  • GC x GC Flow Modulator provides comprehensive multidimensional chromatography, without the need for cryogen. Provides a visualization of sample components for class determination.
  • The QuickSwap device allows column changing or inlet maintenance without having to vent an attached mass spectrometer
  • Agilent 7890A GC provides enhanced capabilities for Capillary Flow operation; Agilent data systems include user interface screens that simplify 7890A backflush setup and operation
