Helium supply and cost continue to be an issue that gas chromatography laboratories need to address. Alternate carrier gases eliminate this issue entirely. Hydrogen, as an alternate carrier gas, offers several significant chromatographic advantages. It also causes concerns that can be addressed by an GC integrated sensor to detect a potential leak.   
   
The hydrogen sensor, for use with hydrogen as an alternate carrier gas, will shut down the system if a hydrogen leak is detected. The hydrogen sensor provides peace of mind that if there is a leak of hydrogen the system will shut down, avoiding a possible hazardous situation.
