Leica (Reichert Analytical Instruments) manufactured these bench-top Refractometers and they are specifically designed to combine consistency and accuracy with high throughput. They provide digital readouts at the touch of a button and automatically compensate for temperature in the Brix reading mode. They are designed to automatically compensate percent solids as Brix readings for variations in temperature. Measurements are automatically corrected to 20°C. In most cases, this eliminates the need for thermometers, water baths and correction charts. The actual prism temperature can also be displayed for convenient reference. Refractometers provide a digital readout of refractive index, percent solids as Brix, temperature compensated percent solids as Brix and temperature.
