Features of MALDI SYNAPT G2-Si High Definition Mass Spectrometry

High Performance, Accurate Mass MALDI MS/MS  The MALDI SYNAPT G2-Si MS System enables you to produce optimal results for imaging, chemical materials characterization, proteomics and pharmaceutical applications. The MALDI SYNAPT G2-Si is powered by a solid state laser with a repetition rate of 2.5KHz to maximize the speed of your analysis. The laser spot size can be selected for optimising sensitivity and speed of analysis, or for maximizing spatial resolution in Imaging studies.

Due to the orthogonal geometry of the Tof analyzer, the source is decoupled from the mass analysis. So, unlike axial MALDI-Tof or Tof/Tof instruments, this ensures that high resolution and accurate mass are achieved in both MS and MS/MS modes across a wide mass range. In addition, SYNAPT is well suited to nonconductive samples such as paraffin embedded tissue sections on glass slides.

Superior Post-Ionization Separation with T-Wave IMS  Sometimes mass resolution and MS/MS is not enough. With high-efficiency T-Wave ion mobility technology, you can use an additional dimension of separation, based on molecular size and shape. The unique ability to exploit the collision cross section (CCS) property of a molecule delivers the highest levels of separation, specificity, sensitivity and structural insight. This provides unique benefits for imaging studies and compound characterization alike e.g. isomer separation, elimination of interferences, generation of cleaner spectra, improved analytical peak capacity, and even the ability to better confirm compound ID with CCS measurements.

High Definition Imaging (HDI) MALDI workflows  MALDI SYNAPT G2-Si HDMS combines T-Wave IMS and QuanTof technology within a streamlined imaging workflow to deliver unparalleled selectivity, clarity and confidence.

The HDI MALDI solution provides a unique range of powerful multiplex targeted (IMS/MS/MS) and untargeted (IMS/MSE) workflows from image-centric method set-up to data processing and image generation. Integrated correlation (based on spatial location drift-time related fragment ions) and statistical tools (e.g. PCA, OPLS-DA, S-plots, hierarchical clustering) also combine to deliver more intelligent and confident imaging analysis.

With the ability to access full UPLC-MS/MS capability on SYNAPT, you also have the power of high performance quantitative and discovery analysis from bio-fluids or laser-dissected tissue sections on the same platform.

Versatile Experimental Options  With a resolving quadrupole and dual-collision cell TriWave device, SYNAPT provides unique fragmentation capabilities, for characterization of small molecules and lipids to Glycans and Polymers. For example, Time Aligned Parallel fragmentation provides superior data quality and duty cycle over traditional MS3 techniques. Waters’ ion source architecture interfaces with a wide range of direct analysis techniques such as ASAP, DESI, DART, LAESI and LDTD. They are quickly interchangeable and ready to use within minutes. The MALDI SYNAPT G2-Si platform also includes the option to employ ionisation with ESI, APCI, APPI and separation with UPLC, nanoUPLC, HDX Automation, APGC, APC or UPC2.

Ultimate UPLC/MS/MS performance  SYNAPT provides access to UPLC/MS/MS performance on the same MS platform as MALDI.

Combine StepWave and UPLC separations with QuanTof, for the highest peak capacity and data quality. StepWave is the most sensitive and robust ion source available through its unique ability to 'actively' select ions and 'passively' reject neutral contaminants.

Unlike all other Tof or trap-based MS technologies, QuanTof provides; high mass resolution, accurate mass and isotope ratios, wide (in-spectrum and quantitative) dynamic range and m/z range - all together at the fastest acquisition rates, even for samples with high matrix burden.
