AccQ•Tag Ultra, AccQ•Tag and Pico•Tag chemistries are the first step in enabling your laboratory to obtain accurate amino acid composition from protein/peptide hydrolysates, physiologic fluids, feeds, foods, pharmaceutical preparations, and many other sample matrices.   • Connections INSIGHT    Pico•Tag Derivitization Chemistry for HPLC  The Pico•Tag method is applicable to many samples including protein hydrolysates, physiologic fluids, feeds, foods, and pharmaceutical preparations. Pre-column derivatization relies on the coupling reaction of the well-known Edman Degradation, the reaction of phenylisothiocyanate (PITC) with both primary and secondary amino acids to form phenylthiocarbamyl (PTC) derivatives The PTC-amino acid adducts are stable and easily separated by reversed-phase HPLC. A single product is formed for each amino acid.   
  • The Pico•Tag Amino Acid Analysis Column is a high-efficiency column specifically certified for use with the Pico•Tag method. This HPLC column separates the amino acid derivatives produced by phenylisothiocyanate (PITC) derivitization. 
  • The Pico•Tag workstation is required to perform the Pico•Tag methodology. The workstation and parts can be purchased through Eldex.
