Oasis PRiME HLB is the first-of-its-kind solid-phase extraction (SPE) sorbent that sets the new performance standard for routine analyses. The unique, patent-pending Oasis PRiME HLB Sorbent provides cleaner samples in less time and with less effort. Oasis PRiME HLB is a patent pending reversed-phase sorbent that is designed to simplify SPE. Oasis HLB is an all purpose, strongly hydrophilic, water-wettable polymer with a unique hydrophilic-lipophilic balance. Oasis HLB maintains high retention and capacity even if it runs dry after conditioning. This reversed-phase sorbent is ideal for acidic, basic and neutral analytes.
Oasis MCX is a mixed-mode, reversed-phase/strong cation-exchange,water-wettable polymer. Oasis MCX is selective for bases and stable in organic solvents.
Oasis MAX is a mixed-mode, reversed-phase/strong anion-exchange,water-wettable polymer. Oasis MAX is selective for acids and stable in organic solvents.
Oasis WCX is a mixed-mode, reversed-phase/weak cation-exchange, water-wettable polymer. Oasis WCX is used to retain and release strong bases and is stable in organic solvents.
Oasis WAX is amixed-mode, reversed-phase/weak anion-exchange, water-wettable polymer. Oasis WAX is used to retain and release strong acids and is stable in organic solvents.
[u]Methodology[/u]
Solid-phase extraction (SPE) method development starts with knowledge of the sample matrix—the nature and relative concentration of the analytes of interest and the potentially interfering endogenous compounds. The right sorbent and solvents are selected for load, wash, and elute steps, resulting in the creation of rugged, reliable, and selective protocols. Waters application chemists have devised several approaches to streamline this process.
The Oasis HLB method is a generic protocol used to isolate a broad range of acidic, basic, and neutral compounds from a wide spectrum of matrices.
[u]Oasis 2x4 Method[/u]
The Oasis 2x4 method for selection of SPE sorbent and protocol for acids, bases, and neutrals produces the cleanest extracts by eliminating matrix interferences and sample variability. Two protocols and four sorbents provide the flexibility to extract acids, bases, and neutrals with high SPE recoveries while removing matrix components that may interfere with analysis. Follow the simple steps outlined in this flow chart to achieve high recoveries and the cleanest extracts:
Characterize the analyte (neutral, acid or base, pKa)
Select one of the four Oasis sorbents
Apply the indicated protocol (1 or 2)
Determine SPE recoveries by LC analysis
