Expect More - Welcome to New Viscometry

The newly developed SVM™ series from Anton Paar gives you more parameters than any other kinematic viscometer on the market. Whether you want to measure fresh lube oil, jet fuel, diesel, or in-service oil, the flexibility of SVM™ provides the best instrument for your application.

SVM™ viscometers are unbeatably easy to operate and require very little sample and solvent. In addition to an extended viscosity measuring range, viscosity and density can be measured over a wide temperature range. The measurement cell is easily accessible for cleaning. An embedded PC delivers a variety of automatic calculations, including bias-corrected D445 results.

Features of SVM™ Series

Go for multitalent: Multiple parameter measurement

SVM™ offers you unique flexibility: the possibility to not only measure viscosity, but also multiple parameters from only one single syringe. Parameters measured by SVM™ 3001 or SVM™ 4001 comply with the following industry standards:

  • Kinematic viscosity (ASTM D7042, EN 16896, DIN 51659-2)
  • Density (EN ISO 12185, ASTM D4052, IP 365)
  • Dynamic viscosity (ASTM D7042)
  • Viscosity Index (VI) (ASTM D2270)
  • API grades (ISO 91, API 2540, ASTM D1250, IP 200)
  • Saybolt viscosity (ASTM D2161)

All-rounder: One measuring cell – All samples

Do you need to know the approximate viscosity of your sample before testing in order to choose the right capillary? This is now a thing of the past: with SVM™ you have all the flexibility you need. SVM™ covers the entire viscosity, density, and temperature range with only one measuring cell. This means that samples from diesel, jet fuels, and lubricating oils to heavy fuels and waxes can all be measured with one integrated cell. This is a big advantage for labs that have different types of samples to test.

Superior performance: Wide temperature range

The SVM™ series covers a wide temperature range. SVM™ 3001 comes with a range from -60 °C to +135 °C for measuring jet and diesel fuel as well as lubricating oil and wax. Temperatures down to -20 °C can be reached without external cooling. Additionally, SVM™ 3001 provides fast heating and cooling rates of up to 20 °C/min, enabling exceptionally fast temperature scans to investigate the temperature behavior of your sample.

With its double-cell design, SVM™ 4001 is perfect for determining the viscosity index (compliant to ASTM D2270) and also for measuring viscosity and density simultaneously at any two temperatures between 15 °C and 100 °C.

Enjoy simplicity: Unbeatable ease of operation

The SVM™ series stands out for its unbeatable ease of operation, from the initial start-up to the maintenance of the instruments. The devices reach you already factory-adjusted, which means they are ready for immediate use by simply injecting the sample. Thanks to the new patented motor concept, access to the measuring cell is tool-free. Having a metal cell inside, SVM™ guarantees safe and easy handling, without leaks or breakage of glass. Connecting SVM™ with the 71-position sample changer means you are free to perform other important tasks.

Think economically: Low sample and solvent volume

An outstanding state-of-the-art design of the SVM™ measuring cell enables measurements from small amounts of sample and requires only small volumes of solvent for cleaning (min. 1.5 mL). This not only simplifies the measurement, but also lowers solvent and disposal costs. Thus, SVM™ viscometers not only impress due to their performance but also due to their sustainability. With their break-proof measuring cells, SVM™ instruments help you avoid regular running costs for purchasing spare glass capillaries. Thanks to its modern, clear design, SVM™ is compact and occupies a very small space in your lab.
