    Features of CO2 Precision Cleaning

A Greener Clean  The Eco in Eco-Snow is about ecologically friendly cleaning. Eco-Snow technology was developed in the 1980’s by Hughes Aerospace as an eco-friendly alternative to the use of hazardous fluorinated or chlorinated solvents for precision cleaning. Today we are increasingly concerned about global warming and the carbon footprint of new processes. Fortunately, almost all the bulk liquid and cylinder CO2 used globally is a recycled by-product from industrial processes such as ethanol, fertilizer or petroleum fuel production. Contrast this to the relatively large carbon footprint or global warming potential of solvent (GWP of 43 to 1700 vs. 1 for CO2) or aqueous chemical cleaning solutions. In addition, liquid carbon dioxide is often produced much closer to your facility than other chemical products, reducing the carbon footprint of transportation.   After use, CO2 is vented. However, Eco-Snow tools consume only a small volume. Four Eco-Snow tools exhaust about the same volume of CO2 during operation as one automobile. In comparison, solvents and chemicals must be treated as hazardous waste requiring destruction, neutralization or shipment to hazardous waste treatment facilities.

ECO-SNOW and the Electronic Industry Code of Conduct  ECO-SNOW Systems is a division of RAVE N.P., Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of RAVE LLC. RAVE’s core values include social and environmental responsibility, providing a safe and productive workplace, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. To that end, RAVE and ECO-SNOW voluntarily work to meet the Electronic Industry Code of Conduct (EICC) and request and encourage our suppliers to do the same.

Automation Ready  Eco-Snow Systems, is a division of Rave N.P., Inc. Retaining partners with extensive experience in automation has enabled Eco-Snow Systems to incorporate its unique CO2 precision surface processing technology into a fully automated environment. The result is a product family of precision process equipment using superior cleaning technology that delivers high repeatability, whether as a stand-alone module, integrated into an existing system, or completely replacing a conventional cleaning process.

Eco-Snow customers often describe Eco-Snow tools as the most reliable tools in the fab. Tool availability is typically in the high 90s%.
