XTR Lid Problem
Lid lock not latching. LCD says LID OPEN. Was working fine but stopped in mid run.

I also am haveing this problem. Display says error 25 and I can not open the lid.

I've had lid latch problems on Legend RTs, a forerunner to the XT. The directions following are specific to the RT, hopefully the XT is similar enough. The RT has three lid latch switches mounted behind the control board, which is mounted behind the front panel. On the XT, there are two black plastic plugs on the back of the machine next to the lid hinges, pry them out with a screwdriver and pull the attached cords out to release the lid. Look for Allen (hex) head cap screws along the bottom of the front panel (RT again, likely the same). Unplug the power cord, remove the screws, and slide the panel straight up to release from the frame. Be careful of cable connections to the control or display boards. The power switch may be set into the front panel so be aware of those cables as well. Undo connections and remove the switch as applicable. You should see a metal plate mounted to the front of the machine frame. There's probably a white cord looped along the top edge. Pull that out and hang it around your neck while removing the screws that hold the plate. Once it's free hold it horizontally and set the bottom edge on the edge of the frame, and tie the cord through a hole in the top edge of the frame to hold the board (hopefully by now they got a hinge setup where you don't have to do all that, but again I'm thinking RT).
There are likely switches mounted to the underside of the top of the frame, on where each lid eyebolt comes through. There may also be a third mounted in the centre, which is raised and lowered by a motor and link-arm mechanism. When the two eyebolt switches are closed, the middle switch is raised until it closes. When the lid open signal is generated at the end of the run, or by key press, the middle switch releases first, then the other two. If the middle switch isn't closing/opening properly the lid won't release and you'll get lid errors (E25~27). Check all three switches for proper function and closing of actuators. I've had trouble with the middle one; even when it looks like it's properly adjusted and activating properly I've still had to fiddle with it. I've also had to replace the motor that operates the lift/lower mechanism.
Hope this helps.
