Beckman Coulter L8-70 Ultracentrifuge has no display other than a couple of the decimal points.

I am looking at a L8-70M that has no display other than a couple of the decimal points and the door won't open.  However, the compressor runs.  Any ideas?  I have no documentation on these things at all...
