CMOS checksum error

I have a L-80XP ultracentrifuge that i acquired used.  When it is turned on it has goes through a partial series of check befor a checksum error message is shown that leads to defaults being loaded. The touch screen doesn't activate.  Anyone out there know how to get past this?
