I presume you've tried what the manual suggests and once E is displayed press the START button twice. The pipette is then supposed to be ready for default pipetting or modifying the programmes.

first thing to do is be sure the battery is good. You normally replace battery after 2-3 years. If you are sure you battery is ok then are you earing the sound of a motor jam when you press start button ? if yes then you need to open the front display panel and remove the board. After remove the stopper assembly and turn by hand the black wheel to unjamm the linear actuator wheel.
