Err 6 on my 5424R Eppendorf

I'm having problems with my 5424 R and was hoping you could help me out here.

The centrifuge runs smoothly as long as it is spinning up or running normally, but as soon as it tries to break, Err 6 appears on the screen. I've already talked to a technician, but they were not too helpful.

Can you tell me how to get into the Err 6 sub menu, so I can see if there's something I can do about this error?

greets, ertl

Me again,

I already fixed it. Just had to open it and solder a wire back on to the power resistor. Now it's perfectly working again.

Hey nj,

the power resistor is in the back of the device, it's round, about 7cm long and looks like this:

You know that something is wrong with the breaking cycle when the device is working fine while spinning up and holding the speed,  but the moment it tries to slow down, the error appears.

Thanks. This is exactly what happened to my 5424R.

Removing cover was not easy to figure out, though.

Just in case anybody has similar problem: remove lid first and then the big cover.

Cheers.

Hey Jonathan,

unfortunately the post is almost 3 years old and the centrifuge has been back at the lab since then.

But the resistor is easily spotable in the back of the device. Do you have a picture of yours so I can mark it?

Best,

ertl

I also need a picture of the power resistor and how to fix it by soldering a wire to it. Thanks.
