Sorry but that's not something that I can help you with because neither I nor my old customers tried to use external control. Not really sure why anyone would actually do it either. Hopefully some other old Beckman spectro engineer might be able to help you out on this one.

The idea is to overcome the limitation of the instrument like:

1) memory limit

2) possibility to run kinetics with multiple wavelengths

3) have your data directly on the pc without cumbersone conversions.

I follow the example on the manual, but the command fails on both my DU-640

I am having the same problem (set_wl_range fails). Did you ever discover a fix?

Hi guys,

I am having the same problem with a DU 650 spectometer.
Was there a solution found?

same here.

set_wl_range returns "f" all the time, no matter how narrow I set the wavelength range using x and y registers

this is what I'm doing:

450     (LF = ASCII 10)

enter  (LF = ASCII 10)

500    (LF = ASCII 10)

set_wl_range ( LF = ASCII 10)

   --- returns:  f

I am using scan_abs,  set_wl etc commands all time,  "set_wl_range" command is the only one that is not working.

any comments, ideas?

Waldek, thank you! This is going to make the instrument much easier to use for me and my students.
