Questions about QuantiStudio 3 real-time PCR system

Dear Sir/Madame,

At the Genomics core facility we are considering QuantiStudio 3 real-time PCR system as a replacement of one of our older machines. We do not have any experience with QuantiStudio technology, so I have the following three questions:

1. Description of the system says that it has "While LED and 4 coupled channels". Does it mean that we can read up to four signals from one well independently and simultaneously?

2. This system allows use of Thermo Fisher Cloud computing space. How much does it cost?

3. Is this system designed to run only 96-well plates or it can run 384well plates?

I would appreciate prompt response.

Thank you.

Sincerely

Dmitri

Dear Dmitri,

You can find our more about the QuantStudio 3 and 5 systems directly on the ThermoFisher website at:

http://www.thermofisher.com/quantstudio3-5

To answer your questions:

1. Description of the system says that it has "While LED and 4 coupled channels". Does it mean that we can read up to four signals from one well independently and simultaneously?

[Answer] That is correct, you can read up to 4 dyes at a time per well. In addition to this the QuantStudio 5 96-well instrument has 6x6 decoupled filters for up to 21 different combinations.

2. This system allows use of Thermo Fisher Cloud computing space. How much does it cost?

[Answer] Creating an account on the Thermo Fisher Cloud is free for anyone with a ThermoFisher.com account. As a QuantStudio 3 or 5  instrument user you can upload up to 20Gb of data free of charge, this is the equivalent of about 10,000 run files at and average of 2Mb per file.

3. Is this system designed to run only 96-well plates or it can run 384well plates?

[Answer] The QuantStudio 3 and 5 instruments have fixed blocks. The QuantStudio 3 comes in 96-well format and the QuantStudio 5 in either 96-well or 384-well format.

Please contact your local representative for more details.
