GC-MS baseline

Hi

I would like to know, what causes a high baseline peak in GC-MS chromatograms? As well, I am constatnly experiencing a lot of noise even after I cleaned the ion-source, cut the column, changed my filter, my inlet liner and checked the water and air which reported to be good....
