Installation, Double Stacking Instruments

I have co-workers that are proposing to install two LC/MS units on double shelving to conserve lab space. The units will be installed on shelves with space between them, not in contact.

I contend that this will make operation and especially any service access impractical.

Has anyone sucessfully installed analytical instruments on double sets of shelving and actully found it practical to operate and service the units?

As a service engineer I would strongly discourage this as it would be highly detrimental to efficiently accessing the instruments. Even if it was a mobile shelving unit, without adequate (2-3ft) space above the instrument, servicing the unit becomes very difficult.
