PE Lambda 25 with WinLab Software

Greetings,

We have a PE Lambda 25 UV-Vis spectrometer runnning with WinLab software.  We were running this on Windowd NT.  Unfortunately the software password on this machine was compromised and we lost admin access on this machine (We tried running in safe mode).

We uploaded the software to a new computer running XP.  We set the method according to the WinLab operators manual.  We are able to log in to the software, do an autozer and MAYBE one sample run before the software freezes up and we get an error message.  The error message reads that the server is busy .

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hello, what version of Winlab are you using? Your error sounds like a pc problem. Are you using an antivirus on the pc? Is the instrument cable attached directly into an rs232 port on the pc or are you using a USB to serial port adapter? Ian

Thanks. ver 5 has a user database that could be reset which would possibly have helped on your first pc. A blank database could be activated. All this is difficult to describe on a thread. The database should be able to be found if you show hidden files and folders, then search for a file "user.mdb".

As far as your newer pic, I am not sure. If you could answer my other questions, it may help. But as the software has been in use for so long, it can't be a software issue, but suspect a pc problem.

I hope some of this helps, but I could help remotely if it's possible.

BR

BY the way, in the same location as the users database, you may see users.bak files. These are backup files and can be used to replace the corrupt file, by renaming from .bak to mob, then overwrite the corrupt file.

The “server is busy” error in WinLab on a new Windows XP system is often related to software compatibility, missing drivers, or incorrect communication settings rather than the instrument itself. Check that the WinLab version, Lambda 25 drivers, and XP system settings match the original setup, and ensure no background processes are blocking the software. Reinstalling WinLab with the correct permissions and verifying the instrument communication interface may resolve the issue. If the problem continues, use the original validated operating system setup or contact PerkinElmer support for a compatible software configuration.
