No Spectrometer detected

I installed the ND-1000 V3.8.1 software and registered our ND-1000, on a PC with windows 7. We  need that computer for other things and purchased a small ASUS which also operates with windows 7. 

I keep getting the message "no spectrometer dectected"

I've tested the USB ports with other devices and they seem to be working fine. The ND-1000 also works fine on other computers. 

I've tried rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling.

Any suggestions?
