Noisy Absorption in Water as solvent (190 to 300 nm)

Dear representative,

Students in my lab are measuring absorption spectra using water as solvent. It was working perfectly. Since last week, there are highly noisy spectra (when measured in water without solute) in the 190-300nm region with absorbance fluctuations upto 1.0 has been observed. These fluctuations are not obtained when using acetonitrile (solvent only).

Dear Zahid,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Have you changed the quality of the water and/or the quartz cuvettes.  Did you store an appropriate baseline in the spectrophotometer before scanning?

Kind regards,
