D5-drive error

We got an D5-drive error on our Beckman Coulter Allegra X-15R centrifuge. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions regarding what we could try to fix it.

Hello,

We just got the same D5 drive error on our AllegraX-15R centrifuge. Did your centrifuge require service to repair? What did the service person do to repair it?

thank you.

The D5 error can be an indicator that the drive motor is not getting voltage.  Unplug the system from the wall, then open the front cover - remove several screws from the front cover, just under the lid.  The cover will hinge towards you.  The motor driver board is on the left with a cooling fan and a large aluminum heat-sink.  Look to the left at pin J16, this connection sends voltage to the motor.  On the one we serviced, there is a fixed e-prom chip and transformer that was burnt.  Be aware that damaged motor power supply boards may have been damaged by a bad motor drawing too much current.  It could be just the board, or it could be the motor that damaged the board.  If you replace the board only, the motor may damage the new board.
