Wavelength 656.1 nm NG Error

On start-up, the U-2900 will start, say ROM/RAM/Lamps are all good, but will say 656.1 nm NG. Sample compartment door was closed and there was no sample container inside the sample compartment. The machine will not progress past this point. Are there any suggestions on how to fix?
