Current Date Cannot be set past 2020

We have a Beckman LS 6500. As the new year rolled into 2021, the date on the display updated to 1921. I changed the year to 2021 using the system setup menu but when I start and automatic count, the date reverts back to 1921 and is also printed out on the results. Is there a solution to this or is it just something we have to live with due to software/firmware limitations?

I worked on the LS6000 series, which was the predecessor of the 6500 from the time they were released to the salesforce and this was certainly something never brought up after the Y2K nonsense.  It is not uncommon to have clock chips with a finite date span and that may indeed be the case for the 6500.  I will check thru my service manual to see if there is any reference to this and I will also contact the last person who was the product support specialist before both he and the 6500 product line went obsolete.  I'll get back to you after I make that call and check the manual, too.

I talked with my former coworker about the date issue with the LS6500 and from what he can recall that what you are experieincing is probably what you are stuck with.  Since the LS6500 went out of production over 8 years ago there were no further modifications to any of the firmware or hardware to deal with that issue.  It is doubtful that there is anything that anyone still working for BCI can do to help you with this problem but I will try to get in touch with someone that may still be working on them to see if they came up with a fix or at least a work around.
