disassembly instructions

We lost power while the centrifuge was running so the lid is locked. When I went to pull the emergency lid release cord, the cord broke. Eppindorf customer service says they cannot provide me with any help because the part was made obsolete 2.5 years ago. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've tried to take the unit apart by removing all the screws in the base, but the base does not come off easily. Any disassembly instructions would be helpful. Thanks!
