Beckman Coulter Avanti J-HC error code D13

I inherited a Beckman Coulter Avanti J-HC with a JS-4.2 rotor. It has run without issue for a couple years but is now giving me a D13 error code when I try and run it. I only need this centrifuge for another couple of months before the project ends and would love some suggestions on "good enough" repairs that I can try that do not involve paying for a technician from Beckman.

A "D13" diagnostic indicates that there is no rotor in the chamber. Obviously that is not the case. The first thing that I would be checking is the spacing between the Rotor ID module which is part of the black plastic assembly around the drive shaft. The spacing between the "hall effect" sensor that looks at the magnets on the bottom of the rotor is 0.040 inches. You adjust it by loosening the two screws that hold the two black pieces together and using a feeler gauge you place it between the bottom of the drive shaft and the top of the sensor. See how that works and if necessary get back to me. Don
