SPD error blinks on continuously

Hello everyone I am trying to fix a Beckman TL 100. A few months ago, upon switching on the machine, a burning smell occured. Opening the cover revealed that a tatalum capacitor had burned (position C626). Looking around, i saw multiple similar components noted as 22 µF 15V. I have looked for a similar component and found only 22µF 16V (sixteen). I have soldered the new capacitor - the centrifuge has started fine; but i get a continuous SPD blinking error. Looking around the forum (and the posts of user dpkleessr) i can also say that diodes DS803 and DS804 are both on, as well as DS302. Does one of you know what is happening? Is the 22µF 16V capacitor not good (i should have picked a 15V specifically ?)? Or is it something else? Our local beckman tech does not even want to look at the machine as he told us that were no spare parts anymore so it was not fixable. Thank you

NO idea about the "burning smell" without more information. The capacitor you installed will NOT be a problem so don't worry about that assuming that it is installed correctly. The two LED's that you mentioned, DS803 and DS804, are indicative of a bunch of different problems. You mentioned DS302. Are you sure that it was not DS802 because on my error code chart I do not see a DS302? Regardless of that, it appears the problem IS related to the TACH signal. If DS802 is off then the means that the TACH signal is "noisy". If DS802 is on then that means that the Rotor ID is bad. Both of those could be the result of a bad tach/rotor sensor or that the spacing between the bottom of the rotor and the TACH module is too great. It needs to be a spacing of 0.040". That is where I would start looking but you probably do not have the luxury of having a "spacing tool" like service engineers carry. Finally, the TL100 series centrifuges were obsoleted at least 13 years so I am not the least bit surprised about your Beckman Rep saying that he can't work on it because in my group we were specifically prohibited from working on them in order to generate sales but that was 13 years ago. Also, except for the parts that I continued to carry, which were compatible with other centrifuges, they purged all stock of those parts. I hope what I posted helps and feel free to get back to me.
