Error E-31 (motor overheating) after installing new motor

Did you buy this motor from Thermo so it is a direct replacement? If so i would be inclined to plug in the old motor and switch it on, if the message disappears then perhaps something is wrong with the motor or a connection issue, if the message still comes up then perhaps the corrosion has damaged something else on the main board, hopefully it is something you can visually see.

Zak, thank you so much. Yes, original motor. when I plug the old motor back in, it shows the same error. The initial problem (loud noise when rotating) was not accompanied by any error code. The electrical board is upright on the side and not underneath the rotor - there is no visual damage to the board or any of the cables. Which connections are the ones for the heat sensor in the motor? Do you happen to have a diagram for the electrical board? Susanne

Hi Susanne Unfortunately not and i don't know the wires from the motor by heart until i see one in the field, you might have to measure across some of the connector pins from the motor to determine which is the sensor then youl know where that connects too on the main board and go from there, it might be seeing an open circuit to think there is a temperature issue.
