incorrect rack movement causing elevator to jam

Hi - I've found info on adjusting the pots to fix this but have been unsuccessful. Can anyone recommend a service person/company that could come to Santa Barbara and fix the machine? It counts fine, I just have to sit there and adjust the rack for every sample so the elevator lines up properly :) Any help would be greatly appreciated! Janice LS6500

Which kind of racks are you having problems with?

Hi Don - both seem to be flaky. It's actually an LS6500, I've got the front panel off and have tried to read the voltage but I'm obviously not at the right spot. The 20mL racks move not quite a whole space, the 7mL racks are okay for the first few then the movement goes off and they jam as well. The elevator and the counting are fine, if I sit there and adjust the rack so the elevator doesn't jam everything works great :) Any chance you want to come to UCSB?? Thank you, Janice

You are having a problem with your "Min/Max" sensor which determines the number of steps that the chain drive motor takes for each kind of rack. The correct voltage is set by placing a DVM test lead into the test point on the sensor itself and ground and then adjusted based upon which rack is present. You won't easily be able to see the test point without using a flashlight but it is definitely there. You will also need a small flat bladed screwdriver to adjust the potentiometer. If you have the DVM and screwdriver then I could probably talk you thru the process. While I wouldn't mind the trip right now, I live in Ohio so that's not likely going to happen unless you are paying for the ticket. I know that there are some 3rd party service groups out your way but I no longer have any current information about them.

Hi - thank you! So I've been working nights since the pandemic started, I'll have another look at it tomorrow morning and see if I can find the correct test point. I do have the notes that someone else posted (might have been you...) about the voltages so hopefully I can get it fixed. It's 82F here now, I heard they had snow flurries in the Toronto area last night :) I'm ja_jones at UCSB (dot) edu. Thanx again, have a great weekend! Janice

Hey Don, where in Ohio are you located? I am willing to fly you out and pay your time and hotel to San Diego if you want a quick tip for some training. Send me a request at medrun.com
