Not Cooling and No Error

Our Avanti JXN-26 just stopped cooling... It gave us a C4 error once we cleared it (ignored it) and it work fine then just stopped cooling. I can hear the condenser kick on when you go to run it to cool it down, but it just stays at 19-20 degrees and also gives no error? My best guess is that it needs to be recharged or something but it's out of warranty and I honestly don't even know where to start or if that's even the issue.

My training on the Avanti-J centrifuges ended before the JXN-26 series came out but the error codes transitioned from the older to the newer models nonetheless. Does the compressor kick on when you just shut the chamber door as if you were just trying to cool down the chamber? If so, does cool under that circumstance? If it does not then you most likely need to have somebody trained on how BCI did refrigeration systems on the Avanti centrifuges because an off the street refrigeration technician is not going to know how to deal with it. Based upon your post it certainly does sound like there is a problem with the system but whether it is low on coolant or you are having a compressor issue is difficult to say without being in front of it. If it has indeed lost its coolant then you also have the issue with determining where the coolant is leaking out of too. My personal recommendation as someone that worked on Avanti's for 17 years is that you need to either get A factory trained BCI service engineer on site, and yes, the expense can be significant especially if the leak is determined to be on the refrigeration can itself. There are also 3rd party service groups around that profess that they are trained on servicing the Avanti centrifuge line but if they never went to a real training class then those are just words. As to where you can start I would first check about the cooling without attempting to actually spin a rotor. This will just be to provide whomever you get to service the unit a piece of information in that there is still some coolant in the system. No matter what, you will need service whether it is to find a leak, repair it if possible or determine than the refrigeration control system is not working properly. Don
