thermal diffusion and density

calculated the thermal conductivity using k =D Cp d, where D is measured by laser flash method, Cp is the specific heat capacity and d is the measured data using Archimedes method. Because when D is the value was measured by laser flash method, the effect of sample porosity on already included, If using the density d data measured by Archimedes method for the calculation of k, the effect of sample porosity will be doubled. is it right?

Dear Sir, for calculation of thermal conductivity the bulk density must be used. Due to the open porosity the Archimedes method cannot be used. It is recommended to calculate the bulk density over volume and mass. For the laser flash measurement the pores on the surface should be closed e.g. by using of special SiC paste. Otherwise the laser energy will absorb inside the sample and not on the surface.
