Serial Connection

We are still using the BIomek 3000 with an old computer that stopped working. The instrument doesn't see the serial port of the replacmenet computer, regardless of COM setting selected. Does the serial connection have special pinning? Does anyone have a suggestion on what could be done to establish communication?
