Not opening/closing

When I shut the centrifuge it keeps saying close lid and won’t start, but I can’t open it either and have to do a manual open using the strings at the back. I then press open and the locks move back into position but it just keeps repeating this fault. I sprayed the catches with wd40 and can’t see any other problems - any ideas?
