Avanti J-26 XP REFR Error

Our Avanti J-26 XP started throwing an REFR error code a few days ago. I've consulted the documentation and learned that has to do with the refrigeration system, and the manual indicates that we should contact a B-C service rep. Is there a way to A) check and see if the refrigerant needs to be re-charged, and B) is there a way for me to do the recharge myself? I'd rather not pay for a full service tech appointment if all that's needed is to replace the refrigerant.
