Mastercycler pro lid led not powering up. Error Codes 0x120D - 0x0D05

Hello everyone, I’m working on an Eppendorf Mastercycler pro?S installed in 2018, and I’m encountering some issues that I’d appreciate your input on. Symptoms: - When switching on from the rear power switch, the unit powers up (normal fan noise), but the LED on the heated lid does not light up. - The display shows the following messages: Device:3 Control Panel ErrorCode: 0x120D Cycler No:2 Ablaufproxy Cycler 2 GetStatus() Device:3 Control Panel ErrorCode: 0x0D05 Cycler No:2 LID_GetLidType() - The unit is clearly receiving power, so I’ve ruled out fuses or mains supply issues. (Not checked yet) but the screen lits up and throws the error code - The issue appeared suddenly according to the user. Questions: 1. Has anyone seen these specific errors (`LIO_GetLidType`, `Ablaufproxy GetStatus`, error code 0x120D and 0xD05)? 2. Could this be related to the heated lid detection**, a firmware mismatch (no updates has been done by the user or me), or a cycler mainboard failure? 3. Any recommended troubleshooting steps? My plan is to: - Test the faulty cycler standalone with the control panel. - Swap communication cables and possibly the heated lid. - Perform a firmware synchronization/update if needed. Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It's a very common fault, that Eppendorf has known about for a long time. Unless your local Eppendorf service team still somehow have the spare part that will need to be replaced (and would actually do so), which is one of the multiple boards, your only option is to find some 3rd party that could do the repair. For us, they stopped supporting this model in any way whatsoever a couple years ago (when they ran out of spare boards, which they had to use a lot of). What's particularly infuriating, is that it can actually fixed with some component replacement on the board, it doesn't strictly need the whole board replaced.

Thank you so much for your reply and for sharing your experience. We reached out to Eppendorf’s official service team, and unfortunately, they confirmed that this model is discontinued and no longer supported, with no spare parts available. Sadly, this means we have to consider the unit unusable. The good news is that the user still has another identical Mastercycler that was used in tandem, so at least they can keep their work going.
