Wireless connection with iPad

I want to connect my iPad to the Hitachi UH5300 spectrophotometer. Is it necessary for the connection to be wireless, or is it possible to connect using a data cable or Bluetooth? My sensei advised me not to use Wi-Fi when connecting the iPad with the UH5300. Therefore, I would like to know the correct method to connect the iPad and operate the UH5300 software without using Wi-Fi. Please guide me on how to do this.
